Many have asked me: how are you going to prepare for such an expedition? I smile and say: good question! I don't know yet. But I'll soon find out.
Judging by the photos of the previous expedition, there will be a lot of walking to do and not necessarily on flat ground. On a general basis, I keep fit with weekly exercise (Krav-Maga self defence sport) and I walk a lot in Paris. I'll be going up extra stairs in order to have a backside as tough as steel!
I lived in Sweden for two years and I remember what it's like to be cold. Some colleagues joke by telling me to not wear sweaters or cardigans in winter to get used to the temperature... Not being entirely brain-dead, I intend to be well-equipped in terms of clothes... and hot water bottle!
I'll be carrying only 23kg as luggage, so I must wisely choose my gear. 2041 provides a list of mandatory gear to bring (see 2041 documents and you'll see the list).
I have no specific mental preparation because I know I won't be alone on this adventure. We'll be around 50 people and under the supervision of a qualified and experienced team.
For those of you who know what it's like to be sea-sick, well... I'm one of you! My Doctor will be prescibing me some soothing medicine (maybe strong sleeping pills!).
